14th-Jan-2013 03:07 pm - [sticky post] Cancelled - Bonn or Bust 2013
The event is cancelled. Sadly, just not enough interested at this point. We'll try again another time, maybe less elaborated. :)

NEW MEETUP! In 2013 we will gather in Bonn on the 10th of October (Thursday), around lunch. Our exact schedule is yet to be finalized, but from Bonn we will travel to Eberbach. The meetup will officially end on the 15th of October (Tuesday). annelislashfan will post full details to this LJ as soon as they are available. Minimum age to participate: 18. It's okay to come only for part of the trip if one can't make the entire thing.

To let annelislashfan know you will come, comment on an official post or send her a private message. Questions are welcome.

IMPORTANT: Let us know you are coming for sure on August the 15th the latest. Even if you were in touch notify annelislashfan of when you come and if you only stay for part of the trip. Do this by August the 15th the latest. I'll remind everyone who has already been in touch earlier in August, but so that everyone knows: by August the 15th we'd like to know details, as we'll have to book rooms and make travel arrangements.

If you can't tell for absolute sure by August the 15th there might still be a small chance of adding later, but we really can't promise anything and it is so much better if you're in touch with us before and explain the situation so we are aware.

Schedule as it currently is, is in a post just below this post. A few things are still in the air, but we hope to have a firm schedule mid-July.

You will have to get to and from the meetup yourself (we have a few kind volunteers who might be able to advise on details of travel in Germany if you need it).

There will be squee, stories, zines, prints, cake and much more!

Bonn or Bust!

EDIT: if you can drive and/or come with car, that would be good to know too, as we plan transportation.

There will also be Eroica-related gifts for everyone!
14th-Jun-2013 03:49 pm - Somewhat rough schedule
Schedule somewhat still rough yet, but I wanted to post something to give an idea of what we'll do and to let you know the trip is still "on".

Deadline will be 15th of August (so we can book rooms and so on), see the main post above. "Full" schedule will hopefully be finalized mid-july, but before August anyway.

There might be slight changes to below!

Thursday 10th: meetup in Bonn  around lunch (Munsterchurch, Beethoven museum, marketplace with Rathouse, Hofgarten (university lawns), first flush tea room (Anne-Li pays), federal buildings, art museum, museum of Germany history)
Friday 11th: Köln, possibly Aachen (a bit depending) (Dome, Chocolatemuseum, artmuseums, Cathedral)
Saturday 12th: Aachen (a bit depending), Drachenburg castle, perhaps Coppeneur.
Sunday 13th: Wiesbaden, more to come
Monday 14th: Eberbach and Heidelberg
Tuesday 15th: Heidelberg and leaving
1st-Nov-2008 02:10 pm - It's all over but for the squee
West Germany - Klaus
The informal Eroica fannish meeting is officially a thing of the past. *heavy sigh*

I would like to say a heartfelt thank-you to my partner in crime and the group's (un)official translator esda, who I'm sure is glad we're no longer around to demand on-the-spot translations of obscure signs.

A HUGE thank-you to our (un)official tour guide, travel coordinator, and Heidelberg host firefly1311, who kept us all well fed and allowed us access to the internet so long as we promised not to spirit her Klaus away with us when we left.

The other members of the group:
Myself mprice from the USA. The only person who only speaks one language--English. I so fail at international travel.

mangy_mongrel from Singapore -- and my roomy in the Youth Hostels who was doing a 6 week tour of Europe on her own. I am so in awe of this.

enigel from Romania -- A good agent at searching out the KGB, interesting architecture, and magnets. ;-P

annelislashfan from Sweden -- Who has been to Eberbach before and would not divulge the secret locations of the numerous boars hidden about the city. ;-D

Special Mention to:
heathersparrows who lives in Bonn and was only able to meet with us on Sunday, October 19th.

As soon as I get my photos in some semblance of order, I'll be posting them. But here's a sneak peek. I arrive and immediately go shopping.Collapse )
4th-Apr-2008 06:50 pm - Regierungsbunker
Steve Tony horseback
just collecting links ^^

That's what firefly1311 and me/I [choose whatever sounds better to you *rofl* xD] agreed, that it's a MUST for our tour: Der Regierungsbunker! :D
An atomic shelter for the government, built during the Cold War and kept intact for millions for Marks even though it wasn't really secure :/

article [in German]

Sadly all the websites are in German only. But I suppose that they will, sooner or later, change that with the first link.
[But I'm collecting the links here anyway to know whom I've got to contact should we decide to go there for a tour :)]
4th-Apr-2008 06:00 pm - Eroica Fandom Meeting 2008
Steve Tony horseback
So, it's that time already - the time for you to apply to the meeting! :)

Date: 19th till 26th October
[edit: Okay, I've got the answer from twissy now, the date is fine with her. :)]

the plan:
19th Oct., Sunday: arrival (in the Youth Hostel at Bonn-Venusberg)
20th Oct. till 22th Oct.: stay at Bonn and sightseeing in Bonn and Cologne
23th Oct. (Thursday): travelling to Eberbach
24th Oct. till 25th Oct.: stay and sightseeing at Eberbach and relaxing ^^
26th Oct., Sunday: everyone travels back or stays (with Sigrid, me or whomever..) to do even more sightseeing elsewhere and stuff Very Happy

We will stay at the Youth Hostel in Bonn from 19th till 23th October and in the Youth Hostel near Eberbach from 23th till 26th October.

how to apply for the trip:

Please contact me [ natsu_esda(at)web(dot)de ] via email and tell me:

1. your real name (and your lj-name or nickname from the message board, so I have an idea who you are, if your name is totally different from the nickname or otherwise not known by me). I would like to have "real names" since this is a real-life thing and I don't want to have to much rooms booked, because of sock-puppets >_>

2. which country you are from, and if you like from which city/region you are (I just would like to know that to arrange some things better, like: How many German native speakers are we? How many people are from the European Union and how many people have to travel longer? ^^)

3. your age
well... I suppose some don't want to give that away, but at least the people will have to tell if they are (a) under 18 years old, (b) between 18 and 21, (c) 21 and older ^^°

4. how long you plan to stay:
(a) whole trip, (b) only in Bonn/Cologne, (c) only Eberbach
[AND if you plan to stay a bit longer after the "official" trip is finished, please tell me also. Sigrid is offering herself as a tour guide for the Elsass or whereever you would like to go after the fandom meeting, if it's not TOO far away, and needs to know if somebody makes use of that option, so that she can take days off from her job ^^]

Later we (Sigrid and me) will need information about when exactly you arrive by plane in the Bonn-Cologne airport (or in Frankfurt/Main) and when you will be at the train station in Bonn (I suppose that will be where we will pick the people up)

how long you have time to apply for the meeting:
Hm... good question... We are already a bit late when it comes to booking the Youth Hostel, so it would be nice, if you could tell us till the 10th 15th of April, if you want to join us, you totally can't make it or that you maybe can make it (if you give me a "maybe", please tell me how likely it is that you will join us and when you will know for sure). [Maybe I will set a later date... later xD, but at the moment it would be good, if everybody who knows already if they can join, tell us ^^°]

Of course you're welcome to answer some things here already (or ask, if there's anything unclear - or complain! Wink ), but I still would like to have an email with the data ^^
17th-Dec-2007 11:36 am - More on dates

It seems as if Garett Maggart (Blair on The Sentinel) will visit again for a con in Liverpool 11-12th of October. Hmm ... wonder if my boss will let me simply take October off? :) Anyway, just thought I'd mention it, in case perhaps someone would like to go to this and then go down to Bonn or something. I would like to see him, but it's "no biggie". :)

13th-Nov-2007 12:16 pm - Dates
I've mentioned before that I go to a slash con in England in October, the Connotations. If at all possible I would like to do this in 2008 as well, so I thought I'd mention here that the con is held in Newcastle, England and the dates has been decided to October 3-5 2008. Of course we can't base the Bonn meeting dates just on me, :) but still, I wanted to mention this.

Connotations is, as far as I know, the only "just slash" con in Europe and we are a couple of Eroica fen that usually go there and would like to do so again. Perhaps even others here might be interested? There were Eroica stories in the con zine and Eroica prints in the con raffle this year ...

What would be really optimal would for me be if the Bonn meeting was held on the following weekend, 11-12th of October: that way some of us could even meet up in Newcastle for the slash con and then travel together down to Bonn (through London and Berlin, perhaps?) or something.

Anyway, URLs:

15th-Oct-2007 10:12 am - Not quite bust.
Schloss Eberbach
Hey, gang! *waves* This trip is looking less and less like a pipe dream for yours truly. I have a second part-time job, of which part of the income will be placed into savings for my trip to Germany. My cousins in England are already pressuring me to make a side trip there while I'm in Europe.

But first, I must get a passport.

Guten Tag!

Together with Agent S I was on a secret mission for the Major: visiting Eberbach and the surrounding area and looking for suspicious subjects (i.e. gay art thieves).

It took us some days to resize, upload and comment the 200+ photos I took, but now the job is finished and the mission *really* accomplished. :)
